Estamos en pleno último cuarto del año, y las discográficas tienen en marcha toda la maquinaria para aprovechar estas fechas y facturar millones y millones debido al "Black Friday" y a las ventas navideñas. ¿Que significa esto? Que mientras los 9 primeros meses de 2013 han estado más aburridos que un ciclo de películas de Lars Von Trier, estas últimas semanas florecen los lanzamientos, videos, actuaciones y anuncios como florecen las fotos de latas de Coca Cola con nombres en Instagram ultimamente. Aquí un resumen de lo que ha venido en estas últimas semanas, y de lo que vendrá en las siguientes.
We're in the middle of the fourth quarter of the year, and record companies are fighting with their best weapons to make the most of Black Friday and Holidays season. What does this mean? That whereas the first 9 months of the year have been as boring as full day watching Lars Von Trier movies, this last weeks are full of the most interesting releases, music videos, performances and so on. Here's a quick sum up of what's to come in the upcoming days.
1 UNCONDITIONALLY
MUSIC VIDEO KATY PERRY
La reina de 2013
publica el 19 de Noviembre el video de su segundo single de Prism, y por lo que
parece, va a ser el mejor video del año. Nos avanza un pedazo de teaser en el
que podemos ver a una Katy vestida de princesa ortodoxa, bailes de salón a cámara
lenta, lechuzas, un accidente de coche. Todo muy drama y muy bien ejecutado. La
canción es una balada comercial de las de libro, de las que escribía Ryan
Tedder que si bien puede parecer muy masticada al principio, acaba quedándose
en la cabeza, y se asegurará un top 3 con la salida del video.

She's giving us some russian royalty realness, with some slow motion dance scenes, an owl and a car crash. Mysterious, isn't it? Everything looking perfectly filmed and very dramatic. The song is the typical mainstream top 40 ballad, one of those of the likes of Ryan Tedder, and it gets really stuck in your head. After the video's out, she's probably securing herself another top 3 in the Hot 100.

adolescentes) del planeta publicaban también video para su segundo single. La
verdad que diréis lo que queráis de One Direction, pero esta canción la llega a
sacar Imagine Dragons o Passenger y estariaís todos obsesionados. Un baladón
acompañado de un emocionante video, en el que "los chicos" hacen un
repaso de su infancia y adolescencia. Hecho para llorar a moco tendido. ¿O no
os rompe el corazon la escena en la que sale Louis con sus ya fallecidos
abuelos? De 10. Y en Julio llenarán dos estadios olímpicos en Madrid y en
Barcelona.
A week ago, the 5 boys that drive teenagers (and not "that" teenagers) crazy around the globe, also released a video for their second single. You may say what you want about One Direction, but this could be a song released by Imagine Dragons or Passenger, and you would all be crazy and obsessed. A power ballad accompanied by a tear jerker clip, in which the boys take a look back at their childhoods and memories. Tell me if you're able to watch it without gasping. Or watching teenage Louis with his gone grandparents doesn't break your heart? 10/10. By the way, they have sold out two arenas in Spain for two concerts in July.
3 THE ART OF LETTING GO RELEASE MARIAH CAREY
Una de las reinas,
dueñas y señoras del universo, aka Mariah Carey, publicó el pasado día 11 del
11 (que misteriosa ella) segundo single para su album de mismo nombre. Tras el
éxitoso Beautiful feat. Miguel de la ya pasada primavera, todos pensabamos que
Mimi se habia quedado atrapada entre Versaces en alguno de los vestidores de su
mansión de Aruba. Pero no. Resulta que ha estado medio año ultimando su 74620º
disco con Jermaine Dupri y Rodney Jerkins entre otros. The Art Of Letting Go es
LA balada de la época reciente de Mariah (y esto quiere de We Belong Together
hasta ahora). Con una estrutura en las estrofas un poco complicada, un mero
piano, y un toque Gospel y R&B del de antes, Mariah hace lo que mejor sabe
hacer desde siempre. Emocionar con su voz. Un 9/10 facilmente.

Miguel last spring, everyone thought that Mimi had been caught in between Versaces in one of her dressing rooms in her mansion of Aruba. But it turns out that instead, she was getting the final touches on her record, with Jermaine Dupri and Rodney Jerkins among others. The Art Of Letting Go is THE ballad of the last years in Mimi's discography (and that means from We Belong Together till today.) With a not-so-common structure, and a mere piano, a touch of Gospel and classical R&B, she does what she does best. Move us with her voice. 9/10 easily.
4 PERFUME &
PASSENGER LEAK BRITNEY SPEARS
Nos decían los
rumores que Britney había estado durante los últimos meses recibiendo clases de
canto. Y vaya que si lo ha hecho. Después del trallero "Work Bitch"
presenta como segundo single una balada co-escrita con Sia y producida por el
omnipresente will.i.am (please leave Britney alone). La canción no entra a la
primera escucha. Ni a la tercera. Ni a la décima. Pero tiene ese
"algo" que aporta Sia a todas sus composiciones que acaba enganchando.
La letra no tiene desperdicio: Britney coge su experiencia (posible infidelidad
de Jason Trawick) y se pone en la piel de una guionista venezolana de
Telenovelas para Univision. La canción es un drama, y una de sus más
personales. Parece que no eran mentira todos los rumores que apuntaban a que
Britney Jean va a ser el disco más personal de Britney. Mientras tanto, se
filtra una demo del tema "Passenger" del mismo disco. Un mid-tempo
complicado, pero que nuevamente gana con las escuchas. Con una intro y una base
muy del disco "Ray Of Light" la de Louisianna se vuelve a marcar un
despliegue vocal impresionante para lo que nos tiene acostumbrados. ¿Querrá
decir esto que están buscando nominaciones para los Grammy? Ambas, y de momento
un 8/10.
The latest deets and rumours on Britney's latest album were pointing out that she was going to deliver vocally on Britney Jean. And only god knows how she did. After the best work out song ever, aka Work Bitch, Godney decided to release Perfume as the second single, a ballad written by Sia and produced by will.i.am (leave Britney alone please). The song doesn't come as good at the first listen. Neither on the second listen. Nor on the fourth. But it has that "something" that all Sia songs have and that finally gets to you. The lyrics are definetely the highligh of the song along with Britney's voice: Britney looks inside of her feelings (thank you Jason Trawick) and she pulls of her best "Univision telenovela's writer". The song's a drama, and one of her most, if not her most personal ballad yet. Furthermore, a demo of the song "Passenger" has also leaked. A complicated mid-tempo that really gets better after each listen. With a very "Ray Of Ligh"ish intro, Louisiana's sweetest girl delivers even better vocals than on Perfume. Looks like Robotney is gone. Bring those Grammy nods.
5 HARD OUT HERE LILY

Como ya había pocas
cosas flotando en Noviembre en el panorama, de repente Lily Allen rompe su
silencio musical, mantenido desde el magnífico "It's Not Me, It's
You" de 2009 con el consiguió una nominación al Mercury Prize y se ganó a
servidor con fan incondicional para siempre. Con un poco más de autotune en la
voz que de costumbre, Hard Out Here viene siendo un tema "Lily
Allen". Su voz, la estructura del estribillo, los temas tratados en las
letras... todo grita "hola soy la nueva canción de la Allen". Porque,
¿Quien sino ella o P!nk iban a mofarse del twerking? ¿O del machismo del
Blurred Lines de Robin Thicke? La canción, obra de Greg Kurstin es un temazo
synthpop que en nada veremos en el número uno de iTunes UK.
As if November wasn't full of things floating around the music scene, suddenly, Lily Allen drops a single for the first time since the critically acclamied It's Not Me It's You back from 2009. That record got her a Mercury Prize nomination and gained me as a fan forever. With a little bit more of auto-tune than what she usually does, "Hard Out Here" screams "I'm a Lily Allen song". Her voice, the chorus, the theme.... Who if not her or P!nk would laugh at twerking? Or at Blurred Lines chauvinism? The song, produced by Greg Kurstin is a synthpop, and we'll see it number one on iTunes UK in no time.
6 WHAT NOW MUSIC VIDEO
RIHANNA
La de Barbados ha
bajado el ritmo de sacar 3 discos al año, y sigue exprimiendo el "¿éxito?
de Unapologetic. What Now se convertiría en el sexto single por tanto del disco
de la caribeña. Una poderosa balada, con unos fuertes sonidos de percusión en
el estribillo, y con unos agudos los cuales prefiero no escuchar en directo.
Después de la obscenidad que fue el video de Pour It Up, Rihanna se vuelve a
encaminar por la senda de looks de inspiracion "punk" o
"gótica" (y remarco las comillas) para presentar un video simple pero
que cumple su cometido (como el de Stay). Lo podría resumir en "Rihanna
retorciéndose en una habitacion vacía, y rayos y humo" o "Rihanna
sufriendo un ataque de epilepsia". Aún así es visualmente efectivo, y
considero que es la senda que tiene que seguir La Fenty.
The Barbadian Queen (who's being honored by the AMAs this Sunday) has apparently left her motto of "releasing 3 albums a year" behind, and she's trying to continue the "success?" of Unapologetic. What Now becomes the sixth single for RiRi. A power ballad, with strong drumming sounds in the chorus, and some high notes that I'd rather never hear live. After the dirty Pour It Up video, she goes back to the looks that she had been delivering during her Diamonds and Stay videos. Goth meets Punk meets Rihanna. A simple yet beautiful video that could easily be called "Rihanna has an epilepsy attack". This is the Robin we all fell in love with.
7 SMS BANGERZ THIRD SINGLE & BANGERZ TOUR
La otra reina (con
permiso de Katy) del 2013 tras su espectacular paso por los EMA ha decidido
anunciar el inicio de su gira por Norteamérica. La verdad es que este blog tendría
que tener una pestaña "Miley Cyrus" por la cantidad de novedades de
la susodicha que salen a diario: Los EMA, la gira, Real & True featuring
Future & Mr Hudson, el cover de Summertime Sadness. Pero centrémonos en el
video presentación de la gira, que no tiene desperdicio. La de Nashville, se ha
ido a una calle cualquiera de su pueblo, ha llamado a la enanita de los EMA, a
sus mejores amigas, a su amigo gay, ha pillado la ropa de estar por casa, unos
cuantos peluches, lengua fuera y a bailar como yonkarras. Veredicto: Lo más.Y
se rumorea, o intuye por la música que suena en el video, que la colaboración
con la princesa del pop será tercer single. Ese video no va a tener
desperdicio.
The other Queen of 2013 (besides Miss Perry) has decided to announce her world tour starting in NA. Actually this blog should have a layer called "Milegend" to keep up with everything that she does. The EMAs, the tour, Real & True featuring Future & Mr Hudson, the Summertime Sadness cover... But let's focus on the video, which is priceless. Let's say see went to a random street of Nashville, called the little lady from the EMAs, her besties, her best gay friend, some crocs, teddy bears, and told them to dance their asses off. Amazingly stupid yet amazing. And it's rumoured (and we might take some hints from the video) that the third single will be "SMS Bangers" featuring the pop princess. That video will be a gem.
8 WRAPPED IN RED

En realidad
el disco lleva ya 3 semanas a la venta, pero hasta que no está bien pasado
Halloween está prohibido hablar de Navidad. La que para mí es una de las
mejores voces sin duda del panorama musical actual, saca disco navideño.
Wrapped In Red trae versiones de los villancicos de siempre, y canciones
nuevas, como el primer single “Underneath The Tree” que aspira a ser el “All I
Want For Christmas” de este año, y la verdad que tiene muchas papeletas. Kelly
Clarkson, o “Yelly Clarkson” como me gusta llamarla desata todo su vozarrón en
los agudos de este animado up-tempo y ya tiene grabado un especial de Navidad
que se emitirá en Diciembre en la televisión americana. Éxito seguro.
Actually this album has been out for three weeks, but untill Halloween hasn't really been passed, Xtmas is forbiden. One of the best voices in the game has a Holiday album out. Wrapped In Red comes with classic carols and with new hits, such as Underneath The Tree, which aspires to be 2013's All I Want For Christmas, and it certainly has a chance to become a smash. Yelly Clarkson delviers some astonighing high notes in this song, and a Christmas special for the US TV has already been filmed. A success for sure.

solo decir que, gracias M.I.A, por ser lo más. ¿Una canción con un sample de
Chimo Bayo? Lo más. Y punto.
You'll probably listen to it, and think that is bullshit. Y.A.L.A's video as a collab with Kenzo has been released. And let's just say, thanks M.I.A, for being the shit. A song with a Chimo Bayo sample? Genious. The best of them all. Period.
10 SENTIR LA
PELOPONY
Por último,
y no por ello menos importante, un vistazo al panorama nacional. De repente y
como de la nada, ha entrado en nuestras vidas La Pelopony. Que se preparen las
Sonias Monroy, Cristinas Rapado y Marías Lapiedra, porque “Sentir” es, con
diferencia el temazo discotequero del año. Un video con una intro que vale su
peso en oro, y que más querría Lady GaGa para cualquiera de sus próximos
singles. Un video colorido, con mucho baile, mucho brilli brilli y mucho movimiento
de melena dirigido por Salva Musté. Lo dicho, para bien o para mal, no va a dejar a nadie indiferente. Menudo descubrimiento.

What a discovery.
