Con los VMAs, los Emmy, el Festival de Venecia y demás familia, esta semana ha estado repleta de estrellas dando el cantazo por doquier. Sea como fuere, estas han sido las que han coseguido colarse en lo más alto (y lo más bajo de la semana).
With all the fuss surrounding the VMAs, the Emmy's and Venice Film Festival, loads of celebs have stood out for various reasons. Somehow, this 6 moments have managed to reach the upper and the lower part of this chart this week.
"Fellou, Aim Donatella an dfis is tfhe aise backer chalench for de fghtridemffz..." This is the beginning of maybe the best "ice bucket challenge" coming from the fashion industry. A few days ago the whole world was shocked watching how Anna Wintour (trying to make us believe that she's not a robot and that indeed, she has a heart) accepted the challenge and all the siblings in her family threw ice buckets on her (we're sincerely praying for those children). The italian designer decided to make a "Versace" video. And what's a Versace video? you'll be wondering. The two greek gods on the background, carrying heavy golden chains around their necks, Donatella's throne, the garden, the flower pots and the ceramic vases all carrying the "Versace" medusa symbol... EVERYTHING in that video screams Versace. And the diva's "english" is just the cherry on top. Brava!
Miley Cyrus never stops making headlines. Last sunday, she was easily one of the best dressed at the VMAs, where she won the "video of the year" award for Wrecking Ball. The acceptance speech was given by a young homeless man from an organisation that Miley is supporting now... Truly, "she can't stop and she won't stop". What's new for her this week? The amazingly stunning photoshoot she has made helped by no other than Karl Lagerfeld for the "rebel issue" from "V Magazine". Because, who'd be better to represent rebel and controversy within the pop world? Other fellow stars like Madonna, Britney, Lady GaGa or Katy Perry have covered that magazine previously. Undoubtedly this was Miley's turn, which by the way is already doing what she does best: recording new music.
A new edition of the Venice International Film Festival has just started, and with this one, there have already been 71. The city of canals is crowded this days with movie stars, fashion icons, designers, and all kind of people arriving at the Lido. The movie chosen for the opening Ceremony was "Birdman" by the mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu. The red carpet was full of celebrities, but the one that really stood out for me was the spanish super model Nieves Álvarez. Dressed in a raspberry Alberta Ferretti gown, she completed her look with equally stunning Bulgari jewelry. A week full of haute couture looks has just kicked off.
If there was someone that stood out last monday at the Emmy's red carpet for all the wrong reasons, that one was Lena Dunham. My beloved Lena Dunham. And it kills me to put her in the "not hot list" because I lover her style, her TV series "Girls" and her whole personality, but if this was any kin of "hot", then it was a hot mess. She choose one of the gowns from the Giambattista Valli latest fall collection which looked amazing on the runway, but more like a costume on her. Maybe if the upper part had been a little bit tighter and Lena was 1,80 m tall this wouldn't have been so tragic, but unfortunately this look will remain in our heads for a very long time. Better luck next time.
The newly named "hashtag activism" is something we all love. This consists of making stupid things in our Tw/Fbs/IGs for a good cause for later spending that money on an ice cream or a new tee from Zara. It's true that we've seen celebrities from all countries doing it (and allegedly the donate the money) but in an article from spanish Newspaper "El Mundo" revealed that here only a small percentage of people who poured cold water on themselves actually donated money. This week we already have a 18 year old that drowned in Scotland while recording himself and a man in critical condition in the hospital from Ampuriabrava after a hydroplane threw 1500 L of water on him. If you want to do this: just record the video at home and donate 10€. Or just donate the 10€.
If there was something that was actually better than the VMAs that was the "audience cams" that MTV streamed this years. Great for boring moments such as the performances by Taylor Swift or Sam Smith. In those, we could see Katy Perry taking selfies non stop, Taylor Swift and Lorde's creepy dance moves or Gwen Stefani and Miley Cyrus not giving a s*it about anything. One of the most controversial and talked about moments this week, happened during the "minute of silence for the death of Michael Brown" in which the Kardashian clan opted for catching up with Twitter and text messaging. Such a disrespectful action, especially, if we take into account that Kim is married to Kanye, whom have always been very active fighting racism through his music. Kendall's face says it all, because she actually couldn't care less.
* Mi intención era hablar de Sandra Barneda y de sus declaraciones de esta semana, y ponerle una flecha verde hacia arriba. O dos. O quince. Pero me he visto incapaz de expresar todo lo que quería transmitir en unos pocos párrafos ante la innumerable lista de sandeces que he visto a lo largo de la semana contra su persona. Sólo hacer mención a mi amigo y periodista Salvador Cored, por compartir en sus redes sociales artículos con los cuales no puedo estar más de acuerdo, como este y este.
